Nihondaira Yume Terrace

Yume Terrace was designed by Kengo Kuma who is recognized as one of the most famous and talented architect in the world today. 
Located on the top of Nihondaira mountain, you can see a panoramic view of Shizuoka and Shimizu. If the weather is good,  you can see beautiful view of Mt.Fuji and Suruga bay from there.

Miho no Matsubara
(World Heritage)

It is a tourist destination that represents Shizuoka. In 2013, it was registered as a component of UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage Site "Mt. Fuji: Object of Faith and Source of Art."
It has been known in Japan since ancient times as a scenic spot where you can see the Izu Peninsula across Suruga Bay and Mt. Fuji through the pine forest.

Kunozan Toshogu Shrine
 (National Treasure)

This shrine is where Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo shogunate, was buried and is designated as a national treasure.
In the past, it was a sacred place where the common people were not allowed to visit, and only a limited number of members of the shogunate family could visit.
From Kuno Beach, you have to climb 1,159 steps, but by using the ropeway from the summit of Mt. Nihondaira, you can reach the remaining 200 steps.

Nihondaira Ropeway
It connects Nihondaira Sancho Station (269m above sea level) to Kunozan Station (145m above sea level) in 5 minutes each way.
This is a vehicle that connects Nihondaira Yume Terrace and Kunozan Toshogu, a tourist spot that represents Shizuoka.
Please be aware that on weekends and when cruise ships are coming, it can be very crowded and there may be long waiting times.

Shimizu Port boasts Japan's largest catch of frozen tuna.
At the Shimizu Fish Market, you can eat fresh seafood bowls and buy seafood.

This shopping mall is located about 5 minutes walk from Shimizu Port. There is also a food court and a sushi museum, so there is plenty of food and drinks to choose from.
There are also UNIQLO and GU stores, so it's convenient for clothing shopping.

Nihondaira Tea Hall
Located on the summit of Nihondaira, it is a place with a tea plantation and Mt. Fuji.
When you stop by, you will be greeted with Japanese tea, and you can purchase Japanese tea grown in Shizuoka.

This is a facility where you can experience Shizuoka's traditional crafts such as Suruga bamboo crafts.

Mt.Fuji area tourist information

Fujinomiya Sengen Taisha Shrine(World Heritage)
Fujinomiya Sengen Taisha Shrine deifies Mt. Fuji. It is located at the end of Mt. Fuji's lava flow, on the banks of Wakutama Pond, which was made of groundwater that gushed out from between the lava, and is said to have been intended to quell the eruption.

Shizuoka World Heritage Center
This museum has a distinctive ``upside-down Fuji'' exterior made of cypress grown in the prefecture.
There is a basin that draws spring water from Mt. Fuji, and the reflection in the basin is very splendid.
This is a museum where you can learn about Mt. Fuji, which is registered as a World Heritage Site.

Shiraito Falls(World Heritage)
Shiraito Falls, one of the constituent assets of the World Heritage Site "Mt. Fuji," is a famous waterfall in Shizuoka with a height of 20 meters and a width of 150 meters. Most of the water that comes out is water from melting snow from Mt. Fuji.
It is full of negative ions and you can feel the power of Mt. Fuji from there. It is called ``Shiraito (White Silk Thread) Falls'' because the thin lines of the waterfall look like hanging white silk threads.

Lake Tanuki Fugaku Terrace
It reopened on April 13, 2024 on the observation terrace overlooking Mt. Fuji on the shores of Lake Tanuki.
Diamond Fuji, the sun rising from the top of Mt. Fuji, can be seen around April 24th every year, and many photographers visit this terrace at that time.

Obuchi Sasaba
This is a spot where you can take photos of the majestic Mt. Fuji and the terraced tea plantations.
This location is surrounded by forests and is far away from the neighboring residential areas, so many photographers visit this spot as a secret spot to take photos of Mt. Fuji through the tea garden, where man-made objects such as electric wires are not visible.

Fujinomiya Yakisoba
It is known nationwide as Fujinomiya's local gourmet food. We use noodles with a chewy texture and abura lees, and sprinkle them with sardine and mackerel shavings at the end.
It is available at 70 stores mainly in Fujinomiya City. It is a representative food of Shizuoka and has won the championship twice in the B-class gourmet competition.

Fuji Takasago Sake Brewery
This is a historic sake brewery that was founded in 1830.
Because underground water from Mt. Fuji is used for brewing, it has a gentle texture and a slightly sweet taste.
We have won a gold medal for the second consecutive year at the world's largest alcohol competition held in London.

Hakone tourist information

Hakone Owakudani
White smoke rises from the desolate land, and this place was once called ``Hell's Valley.''
It is a popular tourist destination representing Hakone, and it is said that if you eat one black egg that you can buy here, you will live seven years longer.
On weekends and during the tourist season, the parking lot is very crowded and it may take more than an hour to get into the parking lot. Owakudani is conveniently accessed by using the ropeway.

Hakone Shrine
Hakone Shrine is popular as Hakone's number one power spot.
The torii gate standing on Lake Ashi that you can see while riding the Hakone Pirate Ship belongs to this Hakone Shrine.
It is said to have benefits such as praying for good luck, traffic safety, and safe childbirth.

Hakone Pirate Ship
You can travel around Lake Ashi on a pleasure boat modeled after medieval European sailing battleships.
From the boat, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Hakone in all four seasons.
It takes about 35 minutes from Hakone-machi Port to Togendai Port, which is the ropeway stop for Owakudani.
2 hours by car from Shimizu Port to Hakone Town Port

Hakone Ropeway
This ropeway connects Togendai Port to Sounzan Station via Owakudani, Hakone's most popular tourist spot.
Owakudani, which is congested with many tourists' cars, can be accessed directly using the ropeway.
You can enjoy views of Hakone, including the beautiful Mt. Fuji, the volcanic smoke from Owakudani, and the spectacular view of Lake Ashi.

Sounzan Station (cu-mo Hakone)
Sounzan Station used to only be a transfer station for the Hakone Ropeway and Hakone Cable Car, but in 2021 it was renovated and became cu-mo Hakone.
You can see Hakone's somma from the observation deck on the second floor.
There is a footbath on the observation deck, and at the cafe you can enjoy sweets only available here that are inspired by Hakone's clouds (cumo).

This is a magnificent landscape designed by Hiroshi Sugimoto, a contemporary artist and photographer, on the land of Odawara, which was once a tangerine field.
It is an art facility that blends with nature, consisting of a gallery building for viewing art, a stone stage, an optical glass stage, a tea room, a garden, and a gate.

Mishima Skywalk
Mishima Skywalk is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Japan as of December 2024. From the top of the 400-meter-long suspension bridge, you can enjoy vivid views of Japan's tallest Mt. Fuji, Japan's deepest Suruga Bay, and the mountains of Hakone. It also has restaurants and souvenir shops, and is a popular spot visited by about 1 million people a year.

Oigawa Railway (Thomas the Tank Engine)
This is a railway where SL locomotives are still running today. One of the most popular is the Thomas the Tank Engine, where you can see Thomas running just as he appears in the picture book.

You can purchase tea and other products grown in the Oi River basin directly from the producer.
There is also a restaurant that serves dishes using these ingredients.

 Horai Bridge (Guinness World Record)
This is a wooden pedestrian bridge spanning the Oigawa River with a total length of 897.4m.
In 1997, it was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the "longest wooden pedestrian bridge in the world."

It is an unmanned station that looks like it is surrounded by a lake. The station is flanked by Rainbow Bridge on both sides.

Oigawa Railway (Ikawa Line)
This is a trolley train that connects Senzu Station, the terminal station of the Oigawa Railway, and Igawa Station.
On the way, you will pass Okuoikojo Station, which is popular as an unexplored station.Along the way, you will climb a steep slope of 90 per cent in Abt style.
